Quality Initiatives

At The Medical Center at Scottsville, we value quality and are committed to providing the highest level of care and service at every opportunity. To that end, we employ a variety of quality initiatives that reach throughout our organization.

The Joint Commission Quality Check

Hospitals accredited by The Joint Commission like The Medical Center at Scottsville submit quality data as part of the accreditation process. The data and other information about the hospital are posted on The Joint Commission website.

Hospital Compare

The Medical Center at Scottsville submits information to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that is posted on the CMS website, Hospital Compare. Hospital Compare is a tool that publicly reports hospital performance in a consistent, unified manner. It provides information on how well hospitals care for patients with certain medical conditions or surgical procedures.

Nursing Home Compare

Similar to Hospital Compare, Nursing Home Compare provides information regarding the quality of care in nursing homes like Cal Turner Extended Care Pavilion. The nursing home quality measures assess the resident's physical and clinical conditions and abilities, as well as preferences and life care wishes. This data gives consumers another source of information as they choose a nursing home for themselves or a loved one.

Performance Excellence

The Performance Excellence team of Six Sigma Master Blackbelts and Management Engineers provides The Medical Center at Scottsville with flexibility to problem solving. Opportunities for improvement are identified that address the corporation's key strategic goals including improved quality and safety of services rendered, creating a positive customer service experience, and improving financial and operational efficiency. Projects are approached using versatile methods including full-fledged Six Sigma methodology, LEAN tools, Rapid Action projects, WorkOuts and other process improvement techniques. The results lead to improved processes, productivity and efficiency.
